Our Success Stories

Winning For People Like You

Through our hard work and the work of our client he was able to reunite with his partner and children

Our client, a father of two, was born in the Dominican Republic, but had lived in the U.S. for years with a green card. After years of living in the U.S. with a green card, he was arrested on drug trafficking charges and after being arrested, worked with the U.S. federal government through the DEA and U.S. Attorney's Office to provide detailed information on the drug cartel he formerly worked with and testify against one of the members of the cartel. He only worked with the cartel in the U.S., but the cartel had extensive connections to the Dominican Republic. He was afraid to return to the Dominican Republic because of specific threats he received from a cartel member and also because he knew the cartel could take revenge on people.

We won Deferral of Removal under the Convention Against Torture in his case, preventing the government from being able to deport him to the Dominican Republic. Due to his drug trafficking conviction, this was the only form of immigration relief he was eligible for. The Judge and government attorney both agreed that this relief was appropriate based on the evidence and expert report submitted by the attorneys and the arguments made by the attorneys in their submission.

Through our hard work and the work of our client he was able to reunite with his partner and children.
