Malika Lightbourne

Legal Assistant and Know Your Rights Specialist Malika Lightbourne dedicates part of her time to visiting the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) sponsored shelters where unaccompanied minors stay for a short while after arriving in the United States. Malika meets with the children and ensures they have the information and tools they need to comprehend their situation. Moreover as a Legal Assistant, she ensures that client applications are submitted quickly and conveniently.

Fun Facts

Malika earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Global Studies with a minor in Spanish from the University of South Carolina. During her time at USC, she participated in a study abroad program to Peru. When off the clock, she enjoys baking, spending time with her cat, Blu, and traveling. Malika has visited Germany, the United Kingdom, France, the Dominican Republic, Barbados, and the idyllic shores of St. Thomas and St. Maarten.
